The land of my current farm was fondly called as “Maru Bhumi” (land of non fertile soil) mainly because it was completely stony all around with poor water holding capacity and the average rainfall in this area recorded was hardly 500mm. A good fertile soil is essential element for any type of farming. So, the challenge for me was to make this “Maru Bhumi” fertile and good for farming
In order to achieve this goal, I added large amount of bio-waste to the soil and planned large number of variety of trees. I used vegetable waste from my town to prepare vermicompost culture in the soil. It was the continuous process of 3 long years of bringing the Organic waste from town to my farm. In addition to this, we also buried dead animals and dead poultry farm birds in the soil of my farm. This continuous effort to increase the fertility of soil paid its due and the soil fertility dramatically increased, and that too without using any chemicals.
With large number of plants and the efforts to better the soil fertility, a good, self sustaining ecosystem took birth. At present, 4000 trees are furnishing leave litter to the soil every year thereby naturally helping the soil to maintain its fertility. We do not burn any waste, we convert it into manure. This practice has in turn made my farm completely self sufficient and self sustainable thereby maintaining the soil fertility to the mark.
Apart from Farming, I’ve Indian Cows and the cow-milk-products is another stream of products which sells at a good price in market and, in turn, produces the agricultural inputs for natural fertilizers. I have Fodder Development Plots in my farm for cows, which considerably reduces the cost of good & healthy cows. I’m selling Indian Cow milk for around ₹80 per litter downtown and ₹2,500 per kilogram is the price I’m earning by selling Indian Cow Ghee. Rest of the produce is sold to several buyers on contract basis under transit license.
We convert cow dung into small sized cow dungs, which are used in Agnihotra. Considering the proven medical benefits of cow urine, we process the cow urine via controlled and observed distillation process and sell to many consumers in city as medicine of cow therapy.
We have our own Organic Farm (certified organic by ECOCERT), where product trials are conducted for product betterment.
